Various authors -- Oil and gas and its consequences ===================================================== Why we care: (1) Because they (fossil fuels) will destroy us. (2) Because it (energy) has made us prosperous; it has increased our wealth; improved our standard of living; given us better health. (3) Because no ordinary, conventional methods or approaches will stop that destruction; only innovative approaches can give us any hope at all. A major part of the problem is that we're all cooperating in our own destruction. We're all in on it. Yes, the oil and gas industry is huge, but the rest of us do our parts, too. They are only the enablers. None of us are willing to give up the benefits of the fuel we burn and consume and turn into plastic and ... And, we're not under control nor are we in control. Our political system, in the U.S. does not respond to only does worried about climate change, and the political system and commercial firms in countries like China and India, where they are burning and will increasingly be burning massive amounts of coal) does not respond to our environmentalists at all.
